The article provides a comparative analysis of the round trip of locomotive crews for the first quarters of 2018 and 2019. The causes and components of unproductive losses in the organization of work are considered. In order to identify the relationship between various factors affecting the turnover of the locomotive crews, an Ishikawa diagram was developed. The work demonstrates the dependence of the running of locomotive crews by a passenger on the unpaired train schedule. Measures to increase the effectiveness of the work of the locomotive crews are considered
