Abstract: 

The relevance of the work is due to the need to improve the design of gondola car in order to minimize or completely eliminate grab discharge, increase cargo capacity, reduce tare and increase distance run between overhauls. The analysis of directions for improving the design of a gondola car is presented taking into account external factors that arise during the operation of rolling stock.

The composition of the domestic rolling stock is largely determined by the structure of the industry, which is why the article focuses on the non-pulling rolling unit - gondola car. Ensuring the efficiency of gondola car during loading and unloading operations and reliability during further operation are a priority when implementing the transportation process.
