The work touches upon approaches to managing the range of non-food products in organizations specializing in the sale of non-food products. The text contains the most relevant, according to the authors, problems of the assortment policy of organizations, in the context of the instability of the external environment, caused, among other things, by the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection. An overview of various types of company’s performance results in distributing of non-food products, both in Russia and abroad, is given. The most popular tools and methods for managing the assortment matrix are presented. The factors that counteract the stable sale of non-food products, both general and private, are formulated.

A descriptive analysis of the sales indicators of non-food, including sports, goods has been carried out. The fall and growth of the indicated economic indicator for the past year is reflected, taking into account the influence of various kinds of factors. The influence of an effectively selected assortment of sold non-food products on consumer response, including in terms of online sales, has been proven.

The text emphasizes the particular importance of systematic accounting and control over the execution of the assortment matrix. Conclusions and recommendations are formulated with regard to increasing the efficiency of the activities of various organizations in the field of non-food commodity turnover management.
