Abstract: 

The paper proposes a method and a device for determining the magnetic properties of structural steels. The experimental setup is presented. The most used analytical expressions for the description of the main magnetization curve and magnetic hysteresis loops are analyzed and two mathematical models using arctangent functions and Langevin function are considered in detail. The main requirement in the construction of the model is sufficient in each case, the accuracy and simplicity of the description of the main magnetization curve and magnetic hysteresis loops in the entire range of changes of the magnetic field
